Training centres across the UK might well be closed during the national lockdown, but that hasn’t stopped us from investing in our staff.
There’s not a lot that would stop us!
Here at SWG Group we transformed one of our own warehouses into a classroom so members of our team could still advance their skills and receive training.
The warehouse was big enough to set up a socially distanced work station for each person taking part and another for the trainer who came in to share their expertise, all with relevant PPE and not sharing any equipment.
Five members of staff across our sites in Welshpool, Powys, and Shrewsbury, Shropshire, have completed a course to become an approved fitter for Sika Roofing.
We are delighted that we’ve been able to continue with the planned expansion and development of the company during lockdown and continue to invest in our staff in this way.
It also means that SWG Group now has eight staff trained in Sika Roofing, which is used where appropriate in the social housing, education, health care, local authority and commercial contracts we complete across Shropshire and Mid Wales.
Director Jacqui Gough said: “This will make a big difference to our customers as we will have a bigger taskforce able to provide better quality flat roofs than felt ones and therefore can reduce the time a project takes to complete.”
We are also beginning to complete projects in North Wales, Herefordshire, Cheshire and parts of the West Midlands.
