Our 20th anniversary year is going well and charities are benefitting from our celebrations!
24 May 2022

SWG Group wanted our anniversary year to not only be special for us, but also for good causes local to us, and our amazing staff and subcontractors are pulling out all the stops!

You may remember, we committed to taking part in a different challenges in order to raise money for charity as we celebrate throughout 2022.

You can read more about our commitment and our 20 years in business in our blog here.

Sweat and mud so far

Our challenges have included sweat and mud!

Different members of the SWG Group team have tackled each, but we’ve had so much fun in the meantime and it’s been a huge achievement.

Four team members successfully completed the Welshpool 10k almost £600 in the process for the Ponthafren Association, a mental health charity in Mid Wales.

And we’re still collecting, you can donate here.

The Shropshire Mud Run was a dirty affair - but only up to the armpits! You can see from the pictures that the group of six SWG Group workers didn’t fancy a muddy face or shoulders but tackled the course as elegantly as they could!

They collected almost £200 for the Welsh Air Ambulance, based at Welshpool Airport - and again, you can still donate here.

SWG Group’s financial controller Sophie Shorey saddled up for a 24 hour Spinathon in April in aid of The Derwen Charity, which supports the work of Derwen College near Oswestry. She raised an incredible £495 in sponsorship - and you can still donate here.

Donations

As well as challenges, we’ve looked to donate to local causes too.

We handed over donations to the exciting and enjoyable 1940s Welshpool Weekend, Monty Literary Festival and Treowen Jubilee Celebrations, helping to bring communities together.

We also gave The Radnorshire Wildlife Trust £1,750  to help repair and replace the fencing at Pentwyn Farm.

You can find out more about this donation, what it’s for and the incredible work of the trust in our blog here.

More to come

Throughout the rest of 2022 we will look to raise more money for good causes as we continue to celebrate 20 successful years of SWG Group in business.

We’ll be raising money for causes such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Ponthafren Association and Welsh Air Ambulance through both organised events that our team members will be taking part in, fundraising events organised by ourselves and donations too.

This month we’re donating to Shine Balloon Race - a virtual balloon race to raise money for the charity Shine, which supports thousands of adults living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

SWG Group supports the annual balloon race each year and we are very proud to do so as part of our anniversary celebrations.

Also, SWG Group marketing executive and liaison officer Natalia Lewiecka will be running The Great North Run in September for the same charity.

Play your part

We are incredibly proud of the company SWG Group has become and continues to develop into, employing over 50 staff and many contractors across Powys and Shropshire.

The way staff have taken to this charity commitment is a huge testament to the group and we are proud of the achievements of each and every one of them - both in raising money for charity and reaching personal goals.

So, we’ve given you 20 years and we’d love for you to help us give a little something back as we celebrate.

Please donate whenever you can and support those in need throughout our special anniversary year!
