It’s been one year since the opening of our new offices in Wolverhampton - and we have seen a growing number of projects and clients during that time.
The SWG Group head office is in Welshpool but the opening of offices in Pendeford Business Park last year marked the beginning of a new chapter that has proved to be hugely successful.
It means we have steadily expanded our operation over the years to include Shropshire, Mid and North Wales, Herefordshire and we are now firmly established in the West Midlands.

Jacqui Gough, director of SWG Group says: “The last 12 months have been another extremely successful year for the company in general and our expansion into the Black Country has been totally justified. We needed a permanent base in the region to enable us to better serve our growing client base in the area.
“Completed projects have included the Grade-II listed headquarters of Dudley Council. In a wide-ranging project, we have thoroughly modernised and improved office accommodation and public areas.
“As a Grade-II listed building, we needed to use all of our specialist experience to ensure the work complied with the strict requirements associated with historic structures.
“More specifically, we removed internal walls to create open-plan office spaces, installed new suspended ceilings, replaced the mechanical and electrical installations, installed a new fire safety system, upgraded internal fire doors, laid new flooring and restored existing parquet flooring.
“We also reconfigured the building entrance to provide disabled access and replaced the roof covering on a section of the building.
“Still in Dudley, we have strengthened our community involvement by supporting, for the second year running, the town’s Armed Forces Day, and we have been proud to make a donation to the Mayoral Trust Fund at the time of the contract.”
Additionally, we have successfully completed the refurbishment of Hurst Green Primary School in Halesowen on behalf of Dudley Council. The work undertaken on this project included layout changes, alterations to the rainwater and foul drainage, walls and door openings, fitting of internal windows and doors and glazing, and the construction of internal walls and partitions to form new classroom layouts.
The SWG team was also making alterations and additions to electrical and mechanical installations, carrying out plastering works, installing suspended ceilings, laying new floor coverings and decorating.
SWG Group has also been appointed by Sandwell Council as the main contractor for the construction of the natural play barn and café at Forge Mill Farm in Sandwell Valley Country Park. The project has recently reached its completion, enhancing an important public attraction for the community.
Jacqui adds: “This project also gave us the opportunity to engage with students attending the farm, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to nurturing young, creative talent.
“We conducted a planter-building workshop with the students, and during the contract, we welcomed two carpentry students from Sandwell College for a two-week work placement.
“The Forge Mill Farm project also enabled us to create a job position for an individual who originally was working via an agency and is now working directly for SWG Group.”
SWG Group is currently involved in several ongoing projects across the region. The firm is refurbishing three blocks of apartments in Thorn Close, Wednesbury, and working on a new housing development scheme in Whitgreave, consisting of six 4-bed semi detached homes for affordable rent. Both projects are undertaken on behalf of Sandwell Council.
In addition to these projects, SWG is also onsite at The Forge Secondary School in Redditch - a contract on behalf of Worcestershire County Council where the team are constructing parking provision, security fencing, a multi-use games area, a sensory garden, and associated drainage and lighting works.
