We are delighted with the way things have gone over the last 12 months at SWG with a number of completed projects and others that are still ongoing.
Our business has continued to grow and we have expanded with the opening of new offices in Wolverhampton - a move that became necessary to meet the demands of an increasing number of clients across the West Midlands.
2024 is already looking like being another record-breaker for us with a growing number of projects being lined up, and as 2023 closes we would like to share with you our success stories of the last 12 months.
COMPLETED PROJECTS
Roundton Place, Churchstoke
This was the first development completed by SWG Homes - a growing subsidiary of SWG Group - and involved the construction of four new dwellings in a stunning location in the Mid Wales countryside. Our team completed the project from start to finish, creating four highly energy efficient homes to an exceptional standard.
Telford College Healthcare Department
This new facility, completed ahead of schedule, was designed to provide a realistic clinical environment for college students, including a hospital ward and maternity unit. The project involved opening up the existing floorplan to enable additional teaching space and included specialist medical equipment which had to be fitted to NHS specifications. We also installed new internal walls, ceilings and electrical fittings, along with wall and floor finishes.
Telford College Construction Department
Our team completed alterations to the existing training facility to provide much-needed additional teaching space with the minimum disruption to day-to-day activities at the college. We installed a new concrete apron to the outside of the building and put in a new fire escape and access ramp. Inside, we fitted new fire-rated partitions and doors, adapted mechanical and electrical services, and put in new floor and wall finishes on a newly-constructed mezzanine floor.
Dudley Council Offices Refurbishment
This project was successfully handed over to our client Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council on December 4. Work was completed over two phases with phase one including new suspended ceilings, an open plan office space, as well as welfare breakout areas. The building received a replacement roof covering to a section of the building and drainage works.
Phase 2 included M&E installations, removal of partitions and construction of a new layout. New lintels were installed, alterations and additions to drainage were undertaken, new ceilings were installed and we renewed the pitched slate roof.
Ysgol Pennant, Pen-y-Bont-Fawr
This project involved the removal of a conservatory and the building of a new timber frame and brick-clad single-storey classroom extension under a slate roof. We installed a new access ramp, made internal alterations to form new fire escapes and access and added a new floor, wall finishes and internal doors.
Three Crosses, Clee Hill
Our team replaced the retaining wall at the rear of the premises and carried out work to the existing foul and storm drainage systems running alongside it.
St Laurence Primary School, Ludlow
Our brief here was to provide additional space to three classrooms in a live school environment. The works comprised a new build extension, internal fitting out, decoration, new flooring and extensive M&E works. External works included a new tarmac surface to the playground areas and construction of a new wall.
Head Stephen Matthews said: “The experience that we have had working with SWG has been far more satisfactory than any other construction company that we have worked with. Thank You!”
Treowain Enterprise Units, Machynlleth
The design and construction of two net-zero carbon business units at Treowain Enterprise Park on behalf of the Welsh Government. Architectural, structural, M&E and landscaping design was undertaken by SWG ensuring compliance with Building Control Regulations, Net Zero Controls and employers requirements.
Brown Clee Primary School, Ditton Priors
We built a new extension of brick and block construction with strip foundations, new kitchen area and storeroom. Landscaping was reshaped to suit the retaining wall footprint. Work was carried out with minimal disruption to the school day. Head Sue Ralph said: “The whole process ran smoothly, with plenty of communication and close working relationships. Even with diggers, mixers and accompanying noise there was no negative impact on the running of the school.”
Parc Derwen Fawr, Llanidloes
A commercial refurbishment on behalf of VINCI, a world leader in concessions, energy and construction. Our teams installed a new hot water system and renewable energy-efficient lighting throughout, as well full internal and external decoration, a new kitchen and rewiring of the office and data installations.

We fitted new kitchens at seven properties in Bishop’s Castle and one in Hope Bowdler, near Church Stretton, on behalf of Connexus. Each refurbishment included a complete rewire and replacement plumbing systems, along with new flooring and redecoration.
We also completed kitchen refurbishments in 16 properties for Shropshire Rural Housing Association, which were all gratefully welcomed by residents.
Gwaelod Y Bryn, Llanidloes

This was a major project to completely rebuild four homes, including asbestos removal and construction of two timber-framed structures, insulation, roofing, flooring and mechanical and electrical works throughout.
Automobile Palace, Llandrindod Wells
Phases 1, 2 and 3 are now complete, which involved the refurbishment and restoration to toilets and existing office units, external fabric repairs and refurbishment, new gable wall and face brickwork.
