St Georges School, Telford

School Extension

Work Details

This project was carried out during term time and therefore required close liaison with the school management team. We also worked closely with the Client to achieve enhanced value for money via an extensive Value Engineering process.

The project involved erecting a timber frame structure tied into the existing building to accommodate two additional classrooms on the school campus. The design required the construction of a vaulted ceiling and the incorporation of CO2 controlled windows. New flooring and decoration were also included within the project. The mechanical and electrical installation was also carried out by us.

There was also a requirement to re-route drainage and services to facilitate the new build. Further external works included landscaping the immediate area with bark, topsoil and resurfacing of paths.

In common with many of our projects this scheme presented us with the opportunity to deliver ‘social value’ on a free of charge basis. In this case we engaged with the children of the school to produce safety in construction posters to raise their awareness of the importance of on-site safety. Children received prizes for the top four entries.
