Work Details

Improvements to an existing car park and bus station within Welshpool to create a new transport interchange incorporating a bus station, car parking, taxi rank and large covered bike shelter. 

Works comprised:

•                     Installing new surface water manholes and carrier system.

•                     Installation of attenuation for surface water discharge.

•                     Reconfiguration of existing car park and access.

•                     Reconfiguration of bus stops and access road.

•                     Installation of porous surface areas to transfer surface water to gravity piped system.

•                     Surfacing and road markings.

•                     Provision of bus and cycle shelters.

•                     Amendment and upgrade of existing traffic signs.

•                     Amendment and upgrade of street furniture.

•                     Repositioning and expansion of EV charge points facilities.                                                                             

•                     Planing and tarmac re-surfacing of the 5,500sq/m car park area with white lining.

•                     Installation of five freestanding plant beds around the car park area.

•                     Porous resin paving around existing trees.

 

A 6m wide vehicular access from Church Street to the bus station was maintained at all times during construction to ensure the car park remained open minimising disruption to residents and visitors.

Planing, re-surfacing, and white lining the entire car park area was undertaken within one week, minimising the duration the car park was closed.

Completed to budget and programme.
