Our Another successful year for SWG’s charity efforts for Severn Hospice

SWG has a reputation of supporting our community and we are proud to report on another successful fundraising year for charity - which has seen our staff take part in challenges and events for the benefit of others, while we as a company have also provided donations, sponsorship and contributed workforce hours to a project at Severn Hospice. We love supporting charitable organisations and events across the area and are now looking ahead to see what we can do in providing even more support where it is needed over the coming year.

Charity of the year

Our major focus of 2023 was supporting our charity of the year Severn Hospice. We were heavily involved through:

● 14 of our team members taking part in the charity’s Walk In Our Shoes fundraiser – an event which recognises the average 10,000 steps a day taken by Severn Hospice nurses and care teams. Our team took on an array of physical activities to achieve the equivalent of 10,000 steps, about five miles, per day for an entire month.

● Entering a team at the Dragon Boat Festival in Shrewsbury – a massive fundraiser for Severn Hospice.

● Spending time volunteering at the hospice’s HQ – breathing new life into an old forestry walking path, making a hidden gem accessible once again to all those wanting to enjoy it.

● Our staff self-organising a coastal walking challenge – Ynyslas to Llangrannog, a total of 45.6 miles over two days to benefit the charity.

And there’s more…

In addition to our support of Severn Hospice, sponsored new away kits for Welshpool Town Football Club, sponsored a local darts competition supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning, and gave a donation to the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Dudley.

We also supported Cancer Research through a number of donations, donated five tickets to the Circus Starr Spring Tour, sponsored the Welshpool 1940s Weekend, and made a cash donation to Llandysilio Church in Wales School.

The total fundraising, sponsorship and time amounts to more than £6,000 over the year and is an indication of our high level of commitment to the community.

WELL DONE TEAM!

Growing commitment

Managing Director, Steve Gough, said: “Severn Hospice has been the main beneficiary as our charity of the year but our continued Corporate Social Responsibility has also seen us support a variety of other charitable organisations and events during the last year.

“As a successful growing company we believe we have an obligation to support charitable efforts within the areas we serve. As well as our main base in Welshpool, we have a strong presence in Shropshire and the Black Country and see ourselves very much as part of those communities.

“We are proud of our ongoing commitment to support charitable organisations and events across our community whenever we can – and are always amazed by the response of our staff who are keen to be part of those efforts.

“We look forward to maintaining and developing our commitments to charity over the coming year – helping those we support to meet their goals at what are difficult economic times at present.”<
