SWG Construction creates a vision for sustainable living in Sandwell

We are thrilled to have worked on behalf of Sandwell Council, with grant funding from Homes England, to deliver six spacious four-bedroom homes in West Bromwich. The stunning new residential development in Whitgreave Street offers six brand new, energy efficient semi-detached homes that perfectly blend modern living with sustainable features.

This exciting project has seen each home designed with both comfort and sustainability in mind. Every property is equipped with electric car charging facilities and solar PV panels, ensuring residents can enjoy eco-friendly living and reduced energy costs.

As part of the development, our team created a landscaped communal area and convenient visitor car parking, making it ideal for families and guests to visit. In addition, the development’s infrastructure features a new access road, bell mouth, turning head, pavements, street lighting and essential below ground drainage and car parking.

Supporting the community

SWG Construction is committed to supporting the local community, and this project reflects that dedication. Last November, two plastering students from Sandwell College had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on-site, while Tim Rouse, a former forklift driver, was recruited to support the construction team.

In addition, we welcomed Ben Hamon, an Apprentice QS, and Josh Yates, an existing QS apprentice, to the project, providing valuable training and career opportunities.

Beyond construction, we have been actively involved in community outreach, including donating labour and materials to decorate the Yew Tree Community Centre. A student from Nova Training worked alongside our painting trades, creating a brighter, more welcoming space for the local community.

Setting new standards

Shaun Humphries, Construction Director at SWG, said: “We are incredibly proud to deliver this exciting new development at Whitgreave Street. This project not only provides high-quality, energy-efficient homes for families, but also reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

“By integrating modern technologies like solar PV panels and electric car charging points, we’re setting a new standard for sustainable living in Sandwell.

“Our focus on creating job opportunities and supporting local initiatives shows our dedication to building a brighter future – both for residents and the wider community.”

The Whitgreave Street development is more than just a set of houses – it’s a step toward building a sustainable future and a stronger, more connected community. With cutting edge features, a commitment to sustainability, and a focus on local engagement, this development is setting the standard for the future of residential living in Sandwell.
