Another challenge complete for Severn Hospice

Our team swapped land for water on Sunday 23rd July, and what a fabulous time they all had.

The Dragon Boat festival was hosted by our Charity of the Year 2023-2024, Severn Hospice, at the Pengwern Boat Club Shrewsbury over the weekend, where over 40 teams have been racing along the River Severn in 40ft Dragon boat

For us first timers at the event, the challenge was to balance the boat correctly and get everyone to row in sync. Trust us, the task wasn’t as easy as it seemed! The drummer had responsibility not only to shout and get everyone rowing together, but also to hold on for dear life and make sure they didn’t fall into the water. They say teamwork makes the dream work and team spirits were high. We won every race against the opposing teams and came very close to reaching the final.

Well done to the winners Team Top Goats Deux RAF Shawbury on Saturday and CrossFit SY1 on Sunday – two gripping finals saw them take the titles.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day at this fantastic event and would like to extend our appreciation to the organisers, sponsors, and all the volunteers who contributed to the success of the Dragon Boat Festival.

Each year we donate to and sponsor a range of charitable activities, organisations, and sporting events. We are proud of our fundraising efforts and the involvement of our amazing staff, their families, and their friends, who joined us on the day, so a big thanks go to all of you!

All these challenges have the same aim – to raise awareness and funds for Severn Hospice, which does such an amazing job for individuals and families during an incredibly difficult time of their lives.
