Our Two Day Hike for Severn Hospice
19 Sep 2023

Last weekend, some of our employees took on a challenging journey along the Welsh Coastal walking route.  Over the course of two days, we trekked from the picturesque Ynyslas to the charming village of Llangrannog covering rugged terrain and soaking in breathtaking scenery.

On the first day, we walked from Ynyslas to Llanrhystud where we camped overnight. To our surprise we hiked at a faster pace than anticipated and completed the first half of the journey in just 6h 23m, with an elevation gain of 2,897 feet. Returning just in time for the Wales-Portugal game on Saturday.

The second day saw a change in weather with strong winds and plenty of rain! However, that didn’t stop our team. We got up at 6:30AM got ready, had breakfast, and set off for the day with big smiles.

We covered a distance of 23 miles and ascended 3,430 feet, passing through coastal towns such as Aberaeron where we stopped to refuel with some ice cream thanks to Ash and Mike and moved on to New Quay where we had our well-deserved lunch break!

During our hike, we were fortunate to spot seals, which was undoubtedly a highlight of the trip. At one point Natalia thought she saw dolphins, only for the rest of the team to point out they were birds on the water in the distance. There is always a next time.

The last couple of miles felt rather long and reaching our final destination was a tremendous relief.  Let us tell you that our waterproof clothing couldn’t withstand the Welsh weather conditions, leaving us all absolutely soaked. Well done to all participating,  and a big thank you to our drivers and support team for providing our camping facilities along with packed lunches for day two.

Our journey was not just about covering the miles, it was about making a meaningful difference to the lives of those served by Severn Hospice, as we  continue to raise funds for their incredible work - bit.ly/44aos5X. We couldn’t be prouder of our team’s commitment to our chosen charity of the year.

WELL DONE TEAM!
