Recent project completions
WELSHPOOL TRANSPORT INTERCHANGE
SWG Group staff and contractors have transformed a former car park in Welshpool into a modern, energy efficient, interchange bus and cycle station – complete with biodiversity enhancement in order to minimise pollution and reduce impact on the surrounding environment.
Powys County Council commissioned us to reconfigure the existing car park and access roads in Church Street, beside Welshpool Tourist Information Centre.
A priority here was managing surface water to create an efficient space for motorists throughout the year, so we installed surface water manholes and carrier systems as well as attenuation for surface water discharge.
We finished the project with road markings, bus and cycle shelters, traffic signs, street furniture and the repositioning and expansion of EV charge points.
It is hoped this scheme will help improve the public transport links on offer for people across the area.
NUPLACE
We have refurbished and brought back into use 12 void properties, thanks to this project by Telford & Wrekin Council.
The scheme included internal and external works across kitchens, bathrooms, carpentry works and gardens.
SWG Group stripped out fixtures and fittings and most of the properties had new ceilings, while all of them had major plaster work completed.
Other aspects included new internal doors and ironmongery, new heating systems, partial re-wiring, re-decoration and new flooring.
HEOL TREOWEN ACTIVE TRAVEL LINK
Here we have helped create a national cycle path and pedestrian path by widening the current road – and completely resurfaced it all too.
Powys County Council asked SWG Group to deliver the new landscaping and infrastructure by breaking the previous road.
Once again, drainage was key here and as well as new infrastructure we also installed tree pits with below ground root management, rain gardens with supporting below and above ground infrastructure, planting beds and planting throughout.
Tactile paving supports the newly created raised table pedestrian crossing – all of which will make a huge improvement to safety for users of the area.
